Habitamos internet recorriendo los limites e intersecciones entre el anonimato y el despliegue total de nuestra identidad. Este último casi siempre ocurre en las redes sociales y es percibida por muchos como una farsa. Sin embargo, yo creo que lo artificial es igual de real que la supuesta vida real.
El anonimato también es una ficción: impredecible, elusiva, que cambiamos a nuestro antojo, realmente no es muy diferente de lo que montamos en redes sociales. Por lo tanto, no deberían suponer una dicotomía, me interesa que ambas sean entendidas como expansiones de nuestras múltiples identidades, al final son reales para quien se las cree.
We inhabit the internet between the limits and intersections of anonymity and the total display of our identity. The second one mostly occurs in social media and is perceived as fake by many. Nevertheless, I think the artificial is as real as the poorly named ‘real life’ (often understood to be the life we carry offline).
Anonymity is also a fiction, unpredictable, elusive and changing according to our will. Therefore, I don’t think of them as a dichotomy but rather as expansions and expressions of the multiplicity of our identities. Ultimately, they are real for whoever believes in them.
